The day belonged to Dennis - the relief was clearly evident as he proved he is still the world class star we are so proud of

At last the gloom and doom has been blown away courtesy of Dennis Bergkamp's finest performance of the season. Overmars walked away with the match ball after his first hat-trick for the club and it was most certainly deserved. His pace and close control scared the life out whichever right back Boro decided to blood throughout the match. But the day belonged to Dennis - the relief was clearly evident as he proved he is still the world class star we are so proud of

The break from league action after the nightmare at Spurs and the exit from the Champions League clearly did us no harm at all In fact it was probably the best thing that could have happened to us. At last Ray Parlour decided to seize the opportunity of claiming the midfield spot for himself in Vieira's absence. And how we have missed Emmanuel Petit! He is the complete midfield player. With England's current first choice midfielder (Ince) and the country's former star man (Gazza) in opposition, it unfortunately just emphasised the paucity of talent for our national side. In fact, if Parlour fancies it he may well claim the central position for himself in Euro 2000.

Still enough of England's problems - Arsenal are back. Kanu and Bergkamp may prove that they can be an effective forward combination (and prove us at Highbury High wrong). Freddie Ljungberg was enjoying himself running at players. Grimandi was solidly effective and the defence suffered few lapses (just the one mistake from sub Matthew Upson to let them in for the goal.

It looks as if our annual late autumn nightmare may be over and done with. Now lets surge to the top with a winning run.
