The Gunners

Blackstock Road You've not really done the whole trip unless youıve had few sessions in The
Gunners. It's the spiritual drinking den of every Arsenal fan.
We've frequented this bar on and off for a good few years. It's where you
first head to if weıve won something, it's where you head to if Arsenal are
out in Europe and you canıt get there. Youıre just always assured that there
will be a huge crowd of Gooners to share your joy or despartion with.
The night Arsenal clinched the title at Anfield in 1989 you couldnıt move
for cameras being stuck up your nose before, after and even during the
match. It's the bar which, if you look closely, features in Fever Pitch and
it's the bar where if you're into memorabilia on The Famous Arsenal you
really canıt afford to miss.
On a matchday the crowds gather inside and outside and there is a constant
excited buzz about the place. The people get there early and start getting
into gear before the battle commences by 2.00pm it is always standing room
only and for a big match the singing and the atmosphere start here.
It's always been the same, even way back in the seventies when the sign
board showed for many years a white booted painting of Charlie George
lashing a Charlie Special, hopefully into a White Hart Lane net.
The outside and the inside of this pub have now changed dramatically. Now
itıs comfort and room all the way. The bar area is huge and so despite the
large numbers getting served is never too much of a problem and the there is
ample seating although an early arrival is the only way to ensure you get a
seat.
Outside the Gunners looks like the shrine it should be. There is no doubting
where you are in the world when you walk past this place. The inside too
leaves little to your imagination and should you stray outside to the beer
garden and forget where you are a very impressive Gunners sign post reminds
you instantly.
You're in the Gunners, You're Home, and You're Welcome!!!
