The George

The George, 9 Eden Grove, off Holloway Road. 0171 607 3625 The George is a well-established and cosy pub run by landlord Peter and a team of three bar staff. A renowned haunt of diehard Arsenal fans and not too long ago some well known faces when players would enjoy a tipple themselves. They are, of course, far too sensible now. With the close proximity to the University of North London, the students and staff make up many of the regulars. During weekdays there is a busy lunchtime kitchen catering for all and sundry, while in the evening sporting feats from past and present are heartily discussed beneath pennants donated by faithful Gooners. On matchdays it is close enough to attract many supporters and it also shows live football on the two television screens. The George is very proud of its 'peaceful atmosphere and relaxed attitude to customers from Britain and abroad, remaining at heart a traditional establishment that marks it out in an era of changes and uncertainty.' Peter, Ian and the staff at The George welcome all Arsenal fans for a pre or post match pint at 'the home of legends past and tales straight out of London football folklore.' Sounds intriguing! |
