The Arsenal Tavern
|
Arsenal Tavern, Blackstock Road This is the Big Pub. The pub that seems to have as many doors as it does bars. On a matchday this pub has more seating available than probably any other in the area. Well it would do wouldn't it- it's about twice the size of every pub! The back room is enormous, for any crucial game the big screen there makes this venue one to enjoy the atmosphere of outside, inside. I've watched big Ireland games in here and when a crowd gets in it's the nearest thing to being there. The staffing levels are high so you never have to wait long for a pint and when you've had your fill you can fall into the stadium in about two minutes. A Godsend to the seasoned drinker. The pub during the winter is cosy, not too much light and a lovely open fire in the corner of the main bar where you can warm your frozen or soaked bones. A pint of Guinness, a good whiskey and an open fire. That doesn't sound too bad does it? The owners are regularly into raising funds for worthy causes so expect to occasionally do your bit! One last thing to remember about the Arsenal Tavern and thatıs the food. If you're into the big roast, then you've got to try this. The portions are enormous, the price reasonable. Unfortunately not available on a matchday but if you're in the area at any other time don't miss it!! |
